The Atlanta Falcons announced Saturday that they’ve released LB Barkevious Mingo on following the news of his recent arrest for “indecency with a child, sexual contact.”
“After being made aware today of allegations involving LB Barkevious Mingo and gathering information on the matter, the Atlanta Falcons now have terminated his contract.”
Mingo is facing a second-degree felony that could carry a 20-year prison sentence if convicted.
Mingo, the sixth overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2013 NFL Draft, played college football at LSU.
After playing for the Browns, Mingo also played for the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, and Chicago Bears. He signed with the Falcons earlier this offseason.
Mingo won a championship with the Patriots at Super Bowl LI.
