The Atlanta Falcons are set to announce their new head coach after multiple meetings with Bill Belichick, but it’s not going to be him.
Belichick was thought to be a shoo-in for the Falcons’ vacancy, having departed New England earlier this month. However, the team has opted to hire Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris in a surprising turn of events.
Morris reportedly “killed the interview” when he met with the Falcons, per Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he’s now poised to get the job after working with the Falcons in various other capacities in the past, including assistant head coach, pass game coordinator, wide receivers coach, defensive coordinator, and interim head coach.
Morris joined the Rams as a DC in 2021, helping them win a Super Bowl the following year.
As for Belichick, his future is now uncertain as prior reports indicated that there wasn’t much interest in his services out of Atlanta.
