It’s looking more likely that Lamar Jackson will not receive the fully guaranteed deal he covets from the Baltimore Ravens.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson and general manager Eric DeCosta recently met in Miami to discuss a potential long-term deal, but the two sides still remain far apart on final numbers that would make sense for both sides.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, several people around the league believe the Ravens are strongly considering using the non-exclusive tag on Jackson. If such a thing were to happen, other teams would be able to offer Jackson a contract, which the Ravens can decide to match or decline.
The one team that is thinking about that option are the Atlanta Falcons, per Benjamin Allbright.
The team is expected to place the franchise tag on Jackson Tuesday, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

It was previously reported that all of Jackson’s counter-offers to the team last year sought a fully guaranteed contract that exceeded the pact Deshaun Watson signed with the Browns.
The team instead offered Jackson a five-year, $250 million contract in September which included $133 million guaranteed, but the quarterback turned it down. Jackson doesn’t have an agent and has represented himself in negotiations.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith added last week Jackson’s camp told him the quarterback was not demanding a totally guaranteed deal.
Jackson has been adamant about not sharing the details of negotiations, but it remains clear that things are not going well.
