Ashley Brewer was among those hit by ESPN’s layoffs and it was incredibly bad timing for her because she is actually getting married to the love of her life.
Brewer, an anchor on “SportsCenter,” tweeted that she has learned a lot since joining the network in 2020 and was grateful for the opportunity. “I know God has a plan for my life and I look forward to what’s next,” she wrote.
Minutes later, she added, “What’s next: my wedding is in one week!” she tweeted with a laughing emoji.
The 31-year-old has been behind the “SportsCenter” desk since Sept. 2020 and was previously a host for “SportsNation” and co-host of the Sunday night edition of “GameNight” on ESPN radio.
Brewer won’t be hurting for money since she is marrying Houston Rockets player Frank Kaminsky. He has made over $22 million in his NBA career.
Aside from her, Jeff Van Gundy, Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, Suzy Kolber, and Jalen Rose were all included on the list of big-name goodbyes. It was announced back in February that the company had a plan to cut 7,000 jobs across the company, trickling down to ESPN’s staff and employees.
