Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and longtime girlfriend Linda Holliday have gone their separate ways, according to a report from the New York Post’s Page Six on Wednesday. Belichick and Holliday have “been involved in a drawn out, back-and-forth breakup” for almost a year.
The 71-year-old had been involved with Holliday since 2007. Despite being broken up, Holliday has “been staying” at Belichick’s residence in Nantucket, and she also serves as director of the Bill Belichick Foundation.
In the meantime, a former player is now openly taking shots at him.
Asante Samuel, a former NFL cornerback who played five seasons in Foxboro, decided this was the perfect time to troll Belichick with a tasteless joke.
“Linda Holiday hit me up… let’s talk,” Samuel posted on X.
Samuel has taken aim at Belichick various times in recent years, even saying on multiple occasions that Tom Brady was the reason for New England’s six Super Bowl titles.

Belichick hasn’t won a playoff game since Brady left New England.
It’s believed that a big part of Samuel’s beef with Belichick dates back to the 2007 season when the organization placed the franchise tag on him, leading to a holdout throughout most of the preseason. He was brought back under the tag, but would not return the following year.
Over his NFL tenure, Samuel pulled in 51 interceptions, including a league-leading 10 with the Patriots in 2006. He also spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.
