What a disaster the Arizona Cardinals’ visit to Mexico City turned out to be.
Not only did the team get destroyed by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, 38-10, but they also lost one of their coaches along the way.
According to several reports, Cardinals offensive line coach and running game coordinator Sean Kugler was fired by the team and sent home prior to their game against the Niners on Monday night. The decision was made following “an incident in Mexico” on Sunday night.
It was originally reported that the incident took place on Saturday, but the timeline was later clarified by Cardinals insider Bob McManaman, who spoke with head coach Kliff Kingsbury about the situation.
“We relieved him of his duties,” Kingsbury told McManaman. “He was sent home Monday morning prior to the game.”

There is no word yet on what exactly caused Kugler to get fired. He was reportedly earning plenty of respect within the organization, so whatever he did must have been pretty terrible to warrant his firing in such an abrupt fashion.
With the loss on Monday night, the Cardinals fell to 4-7 on the season. It’s looking like another lost season, so don’t be surprised if several more coaches are let go by the club between now and January.
