We saw many blockbuster trades ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline, and we nearly saw one more.
According to sources, the Arizona Cardinals received a “flurry of trade calls” for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, which could have lead to an “under-the-radar” blockbuster.
Wide receivers seemed to dominate the rumor mill ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, but no one was talking about Hopkins going anywhere.
While teams were calling Cards GM Steve Keim about D-Hop, no move transpired. What’s not known, however, is whether Hopkins was completely off limits, or if teams simply weren’t interested in giving Arizona what they wanted.

According to several people with knowledge of the situation, Keim was unwilling to move Hopkins. What’s unclear is if Keim wasn’t doing a deal at any price or if teams simply didn’t meet his price.

At 3-5 on the season, the Cardinals are still very much in the thick of the NFC playoff race.
They’re 1-1 since DeAndre Hopkins returned from suspension. The 30-year-old wideout has provided a significant boost to the Cards’ offense, racking up 22 receptions for 262 yards and a touchdown in his two games played.
