It seems entirely possible the Raiders will retain interim head coach Antonio Pierce. If by chance they do not, he already has a team willing to bring him on.
Pierce took over a 3-5 Raiders team, after Josh McDaniels was fired, and managed to close 5-4, despite having zero head coaching experience at any level.
Raiders players have openly lobbied for Pierce to stick around.
Now, a new report says the New York Giants would consider Antonio Pierce a “top target” for their defensive coordinator vacancy if the Las Vegas Raiders don’t name him their permanent head coach, according to Hondo Carpenter of Raiders Today.
Martindale reportedly resigned as the Giants’ defensive coordinator after he reportedly cursed out Brian Daboll in a meeting and stormed out of the building.

Hiring Pierce to lead the defense would make a lot of sense since he saw a unit that went from 29th to eighth in defensive efficiency, per FTN Fantasy.
Pierce is a legend for the team as he played five years with the Giants, a run that included their 2007 championship, so he’s familiar with the organization.
Nothing is guaranteed when it comes to Pierce’s employment status.
