On Monday, an arbitrator punched Antonio Brown straight in the gut when they ruled against his grievance about wanting to use an older style helmet that is no longer permitted by the league for players to wear.
Brown had threatened to retire because the new style helmets interferes with his vision as he tries to catch the football. Schutt has discontinued making the helmet and it is no longer certified by the National Operating Committee for Standards & Athletic Equipment.
Brown would soon take to Twitter and expressed his disappointment with the ruling, but stated his willingness to get on the field with his new teammates.
Basically, he’s not going through with a sudden retirement.
AB was in line to lose out on $30 million guaranteed if he decided to go through with the retirement. Basically, he was never going to go through with retiring and thought he could use it as leverage.
