Antonio Brown is no longer in the league but he is still changing the game because of his bad behavior.
The NFL has announced changes to its personal conduct policy, including action that would allow the league to punish players for violations made prior to them entering the league.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio explained that the rule change is partly due to Antonio Brown’s actions before signing with the New England Patriots.
“One change arises in part from receiver Antonio Brown’s short-lived stint with the Patriots in 2019,” Florio explained.
“After Brown finagled his release from the Raiders, the Patriots signed him. Then, after only one game, Brown was sued for sexual assault and rape. It later came to light that Brown knew of the threatened litigation before signing with the Patriots, but that he did not disclose it to them.
“The Personal Conduct Policy now imposes an obligation on all players to disclose potential violations to teams before signing contracts with them.”
Antonio Brown’s tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and possibly in the league ended after he was released by the team in January 2022. Brown took off his jersey and walked off the field in the third quarter of Tampa Bay’s 28-24 win over the Jets.
Brown originally signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay in October 2020. He appeared in 11 games for the Bucs last season, including the playoffs. He caught a touchdown pass in their 31-9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
He would re-sign and appeared in seven games this season prior to being released. He was fourth on the team in receiving yards (545) and tied for fourth in touchdown receptions (four).
