With the shots being thrown at Ben Roethlisberger in 2019, he found a friend in the form of teammate JuJu-Smith Schuster who took to social media on Monday and gave his quarterback props for being a “true leader” despite what is being said about him.
Many perceived that to be a shot to Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell who have both said something about the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback as they made their way to their new teams.
Via Sports Illustrated:
“Ben wants to win his way, and that’s tough to play with. Ben won a Super Bowl, but he won when he was younger. Now he’s at this stage where he tries to control everything, and [the team] let him get there.
He adds: “So if I’m mad at a player and I’m not throwing him the ball—if I’m not throwing A.B. the ball and I’m giving JuJu [Smith-Schuster] all the shine or Jesse [James] or Vance [McDonald] or whoever it is, and you know consciously you’re making your other receiver mad but you don’t care—it’s hard to win that way.”
What Brown had to say:
“[That’s] the type of guy he is. He feels like he’s the owner. Bro, you threw the [expletive] to the D-lineman. How the [expletive] am I going to run a better route? You need to give me a better ball.”
