Antonio Brown sure knows how to take a good thing and make it worse.
During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the Albany Empire stood as the best team in the National Arena League as they won the championship in back-to-back years. It’s safe to say that this team won’t be going for a 3-peat and one man can be blamed for it.
The Empire are 1-5 and tied for last place and it was after Antonio Brown became the owner of the franchise. During his reign, there have reportedly been over 10 attempted or announced coaching changes, players and staff not being paid and others being locked out of their hotel rooms.
The former NFL WR has also tried to lure Cam Newton to play for his team in a desperate attempt to salvage this season. He has told fans he will play in a game, only to not suit up while thousands showed up just to see that happen.
What is even crazier is that interim head coach Maurice Leggett was just on the team’s roster as a defensive back as of last week. He just retired from football on Friday, ending a 15-year professional playing career that began with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Antonio Brown last played in an NFL game on Jan. 2, 2022, when he famously walked off the field at MetLife Stadium. The controversial four-time First-Team All-Pro receiver blamed his infamous mid-game meltdown against the New York Jets in early 2022 on an injury that he said his team was fully aware of.

Following Brown’s release by the Bucs, Arians told the media, per CBS: “At no point in time during that game did he (Brown) ever ask the trainer or doctor about his ankle.”
Brown also claimed that during the offseason prior, after winning Super Bowl LV, then-Bucs quarterback Brady “cursed out” his agent as the wideout waited on an improved contract offer.
As you see, he is no stranger to controversy.
Over the course of 12 NFL seasons, Brown gained more than 12,000 yards and scored 83 touchdowns. He also possesses a coveted Super Bowl ring.
