Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson could undergo shoulder surgery in the next week and now his season is likely coming to an end.
Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson was diagnosed with a grade 3 sprain to the AC joint in his right shoulder after being injured during his last game. He was injured at the end of a short first-half run against Tennessee as he stayed down on the ground before walking slowly to the team’s medical tent.
Colts Owner Jim Irsay said on Monday night that the rookie QB is ‘probably’ done for the year.
Richardson missed his second game of the season Sunday at Jacksonville, but he traveled with the team and wore a sling to protect his throwing shoulder while watching Indy’s loss from the sideline.
The 6-foot-4, 244-pound former Florida Gators star has been injury-prone in his first NFL season. The No. 4 overall pick did not finish three of four starts. He has had a concussion, a bruised knee, and a shoulder injury.
He was off to a promising start, throwing for 577 yards, three TDs, and one interception while completing 59.7% of his throws in four games. He also has 25 carries for 136 yards and four touchdowns.
