Anthony Richardson’s rookie year has officially come to an end. Richardson will undergo season-ending surgery to repair his injured right shoulder.
The Colts have been searching for an answer at quarterback since Luck retired. They used the No. 4 overall pick in April’s draft on Anthony Richardson. The early returns have been better than expected, but he has also become injury-prone.
He only finished one of his four starts and now he won’t play again this season.
Richardson suffered a Grade 3 AC joint sprain on his throwing shoulder during the Colts’ Week 5 win over Tennessee.
Richardson’s trajectory looks promising, but to reach those heights he’ll need to avoid the rash of injuries that have sidelined him at various times this season.

In four starts this season, the Colts’ rookie QB produced 577 passing yards three passing touchdowns, and an interception, along with 136 yards and four rushing TDs.
