One of the quarterbacks taken in the 2023 NFL Draft is already drawing an interesting comparison to a former NFL QB.
Anthony Richardson, who was taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, has been compared to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks compared Richardson to Kaepernick following the first round on Thursday night.
“This guy has outstanding instints and awwareness particalularly with the ball in his hands.”
After back-to-back-to-back seasons with one-year rentals at the quarterback position, there is certainly an expectation that Richardson will be the quarterback of the future for Indy.
With only 13 starts at the college level, starts in the NFL may be exactly what Richardson needs in order to advance his development.

Off the field, Richardson is definitely like Kaepernick as he has been involved in several charitable efforts, including volunteering with local organizations to help provide food and resources to those in need. He has also been praised by coaches and teammates for his work ethic and positive attitude.
Kaepernick gained national attention in 2016 when he began kneeling during the national anthem before NFL games in protest against police brutality and racial inequality in the United States. His actions sparked a national debate and drew both support and criticism from fans, players, and political figures.
He became a free agent after the 2016 season and has not played in the NFL since. He has since become an activist and philanthropist, founding the Know Your Rights Camp, which aims to empower and educate youth on self-empowerment, education, and how to interact with law enforcement. Kaepernick has also been recognized for his activism with numerous awards, including the prestigious Muhammad Ali Legacy Award in 2017.
