The Indianapolis Colts can only hope that their next QB is truly their franchise guy.
Over the weekend, the Colts selected Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson in Round 1 of the 2023 NFL Draft with the No. 4 overall pick.
Richardson is inexperienced in terms of playing time at the collegiate level. He opted to skip the final two years of his career at Florida in order to enter the draft so the Colts will be able to mold him how they want.
On Friday, he hit the field for the Colts for the first time as a member of the organization.
The below video shows his first pass.
It wasn’t much, but it garner a ton of reactions online:

After wearing No.2 and No.15 while at Florida, Richardson decided to go with No.5 with the Colts, because that is the number he first started playing football as a child, and the quarterback wanted to return to the jersey that started it all.
There certainly will be some ups and downs during the early going of his career, but the Colts were always the best fit for Richardson to reach his ceiling.
The franchise is hoping he can be the guy to finally make them stop searching for the franchise QB that could replace Andrew Luck. The team has been stuck in purgatory since his shocking retirement years ago.
Richardson finished the 2022 season with a 53.8 pass completion percentage, 2,549 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
