The NFL Draft may still be a few weeks away, but the Carolina Panthers are officially on the clock with the no. 1 overall pick. And it’s still anyone’s guess what they’ll do with it.
When the Panthers first obtained the pick in a blockbuster deal with the Chicago Bears, many thought they had their eye on Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud. Panthers quarterbacks coach Josh McCown even hinted at their interest in Stroud during the Buckeyes’ Pro Day
In recent weeks, however, it appears as though the consensus has shifted towards the belief that Alabama phenom Bryce Young is the guy at the top of Carolina’s draft board.
So Bryce Young is the pick…right? Well, not so fast.
According to a recent report, Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson “remains under consideration” by the Carolina Panthers as a possible first-overall pick.

The report also states that Bryce Young is still the most likely choice for the Panthers, but apparently the door on Richardson is not completely shut.
Anthony Richardson impressed NFL scouts at the combine with his insane athleticism, but it’s his actual production on the field that has some teams worried. In his only full season as the starting quarterback at Florida, Richardson completed just 53.8 percent of his passes with 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Despite all the question marks, its widely expected that some NFL team will take a chance on Richardson with a top 5 pick on April 27.
