The wrongful death of Ahmaud Arbery has been a strong talking point on social media ever since video came out of the 25-year-old being shot down by a father and son duo who chased him down.
Many athletes have spoken out about it, while others signed a letter demanding a federal investigation into the case.
Anquan Boldin, who is the co-founder of the Players Coalition, spoke about the importance of Tom Brady signing the Arbery letter:
“I think it’s very significant. Especially having Tom be a guy who hasn’t been involved in politics at all,” Boldin said during an appearance on ESPN. “He’s kinda stayed away from it. But it just goes to show that people are tired of this happening. We’ve seen it over and over again, and far too long, we’ve allowed it to go on and not speak out about it. So to have someone like Tom Brady sign the letter, it was very significant.”
Arbery was murdered by Travis and Greg McMichael on February 23rd, but were never arrested for it until video showed up.
The Players Coalition compiled a letter that was sent to Attorney General William Barr that requested that Barr treat the shooting death of Arbery as a federal investigation. It was signed by numerous former and current athletes.
