The NFL is expected to make another playoff game streaming exclusive following their deal with NBC that will see the Wild Card Round showdown between the Chiefs and Dolphins air on Peacock next weekend.
Fans aren’t all that pleased with the decision – especially the ones without Peacock – given that the league opted to host the regular-season clash between the two teams in Germany and then make their playoff matchup exclusive to a streaming platform.
Even Chiefs players were taken aback by the move.
“Us playing on peacock ONLY is insane I won’t lie,” defensive lineman Omenihu shared on X.
Reports indicate that Peacock is paying $110 million to broadcast the game. This could be what obtains in future campaigns, with Awful Announcing citing sports media insider John Ourand in his claims that a second platform, namely Amazon Prime, will have a postseason exclusive in 2025.
“But here is the shocking news for you….. Very soon, there may be two playoff games that are streaming exclusives.
“If you follow sports media, you know that reporter John Ourand is as plugged in as anyone in this space. Every year he puts out a list of sports media predictions for the new year. It’s must-read content for anyone who follows this space closely. Below is this nugget from his 2024 predictions which were posted today.
“Amazon lands an NFL playoff game in 2025
“Amazon ponies up $125 million for exclusive access to an NFL wild-card playoff game next season. For the second year in a row, NBC’s Peacock streaming service also will carry an NFL wild-card playoff game exclusively.”

This always seemed like the general direction, so it shouldn’t surprise that many people.
Amazon Prime already has a major deal with the NFL as the platform hosts ‘Thursday Night Football’ throughout the regular season. Perhaps the only surprising thing is that Peacock is getting a playoff game before them.
