How’s this for irony. In order to win another Super Bowl, Andy Reid will need to beat the quarterback that he helped advise the Philadelphia Eagles to draft three years earlier.
Reid hasn’t coached the Eagles since 2012, but even after he joined the Kansas City Chiefs as their new head coach in 2013, he’s still been helping out his former team when he can.
Eagles GM Howie Roseman admitted that much, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen. A recent report revealed how Roseman still consults with Reid on matters that don’t affect the Chiefs. And in 2020, with the Chiefs already set at the quarterback position with Patrick Mahomes, Roseman consulted with Reid about current Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
“Whenever we make a big decision that does not have an effect on Chiefs, I always pick (Reid’s) brain and that was a big decision. Andy taught us so much about psychology of QBs,” Roseman stated.
Reid downplayed his role in the Eagles drafting Hurts, but he also apparently knew the quarterback well. So you’d have to think he put in a good word, seeing as how the Eagles went ahead and drafted him with the 53rd pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

If the Eagles go on to beat Reid’s Chiefs because of Hurt’s play today, you can bet the Kansas City head coach will think twice before giving Roseman any information in the future.
