The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos 22-16 on Sunday Night Football, but it should’ve ended with a double-digit win if the team had challenged one play.
The Chiefs and Broncos were tied at three early in the second quarter when Patrick Mahomes found Tyreek Hill deep for a touchdown. Only problem there was it was called incomplete, despite replay showing the ball landing in Hill’s hands in the end zone, but the Chiefs receiver didn’t realize he had made the touchdown catch.
Hill jogged off the field like he didn’t make the catch, so the Chiefs didn’t bother challenging the call and punted. Reid said after the game that Hill told him he didn’t make the catch. Reid said that was the first time a receiver told him he didn’t make the catch.
It didn’t hurt the Chiefs in the end, but it did hurt bettors and fantasy owners.
