The timing of Andy Dalton being benched was rather upsetting to the QB for several reasons. Not only did it happen on his birthday, but it didn’t give him nor his agent anytime to explore other options.
Dalton spoke with the media Wednesday and expressed clear frustration about the decision head coach Zac Taylor made, mainly because it happened so close to the trade deadline.
Dalton stated his agent tried to survey possible trade options with other teams, but the timing of the benching left them with little to no time to get anything done.
“It happened three hours before the trade deadline,” Dalton said Wednesday. “I wish they would have, at least if he was thinking about it, at least try to let me see if I could end up somewhere or at least see if there was interest in possibly getting traded.
“At that point, the way it was all handled, there wasn’t enough time to even have that happen.”
