Last month, Andy Dalton addressed reporters via a video conference call after signing a one-year, $10 million contract with Chicago and revealing the team told him he’d be their starting quarterback.
“They told me I was the starter,” Dalton said. “That was one of the reasons why I wanted to come here. So every conversation I’ve had has been that, so that’s the assurance that I’ve gotten.”
Then came Thursday and the Chicago Bears moved up in the draft and selected Ohio State QB Justin Fields.
Chicago gave up their No. 20 pick this year, a first-round pick next year and two other picks to get Fields.
Fields is likely going to start and social media couldn’t help but to joke about the situation.
