Amazon has a great black Friday deal in store for NFL fans, with the company having announced plans to stream a free NFL game via Prime Video at no cost.
The upcoming 2023/24 season will be the first during which the league will be hosting a game the day after Thanksgiving. The fixture, yet to be announced, will take place at 3 PM ET on November 24.
“It’s such an unusual day because so many people have it off work, so it’s really a unique opportunity to expose all fans to our broadcast,” said Prime Video vice president Jay Marine, per the Associated Press.
Prive Video already streams Thursday Night Football, starting last season, so the platform will be delivering 16 games next term as they will be airing regular season games from Weeks 2-17.
Amazon attracted an average of 9.58 million viewers with 15 TNF games last season while first-party viewership was at an average of 11.3 million, according to Nielsen Figures. Nielsen had never tracked ratings from a streaming service before.
While Thursday games were only available via streaming, TNF was the most-watched program 13 out of the 15 times it aired and even beat a World Series game at one point.
