Cleveland Browns’ star wide receiver Amari Cooper is “day-to-day” after suffering “a minor tweak” in an undisclosed part of his body, according to a report.
Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports that Cooper joined his teammates at the club’s first training camp session on Sunday. He soon left practice following the “minor tweak”:
“Browns receiver Amari Cooper appeared outside with the rest of his teammates at the start training camp on Sunday, but quickly went inside on Day 2 with what proved to be “a minor tweak” of something, GM Andrew Berry said after practice.
Berry declined to specify what body part Cooper tweaked, but did say that it’s not related to the core muscle surgery he had in February. Cooper spent some time in the therapy pool inside the Sports Performance building at The Greenbrier.”
If it’s a “minor tweak”, Cooper shouldn’t be out of football activities for too long. Obviously, the Pro Bowl wideout and the club will want to take every necessary precaution during offseason activities.
The Dallas Cowboys traded Cooper in a cap-saving move to the Browns last year, and the AFC North club emerged as the clear-cut winners in the deal. Cooper finished as the Browns’ leading receiver of 22 with 78 catches for 1,160 yards and a career-best nine receiving touchdowns.

Despite Cooper’s efforts, the Browns finished last in the AFC North with a 7-10 record. The front office went great lengths to improve the wide receiver depth chart this offseason, trading for disgruntled New York Jets’ WR Elijah Moore before using a third-round pick on Tennessee wideout Cedric Tillman.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Cooper is just five receptions away for 600 in his career. He has 8,236 receiving yards and 55 touchdowns.
Cooper and the Browns will open their 2023 season at home against Joe Burrow and the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 10.
