On Wednesday, NASCAR made a huge decision when it announced that it was banning the display of the Confederate Flag at all its events. That move immediately garnered praise from a number of athletes in different sports.
Current New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara was one of those athletes and even made plans to watch the next race.
“when the next race??” asked Kamara on Twitter as he added a popcorn emoji at the end.
NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace responded to tell him that there was a race the same day he asked about it.
In a press release on Wednesday afternoon, NASCAR announced its ban on the display of the Confederate Flag and explained its decision.

“The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry,” read the statement by NASCAR. “Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”
NASCAR distanced itself from the flag and also allowed for peaceful protests to go on during the playing of the National Anthem.
