New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara posted an interesting message on his Instagram story after reporting to training camp on Monday.
Alvin Kamara left the Saints’ mandatory minicamp a month ago, hoping to receive a new contract. He has no guaranteed money on his contract after 2024, so there’s a good chance he’ll head to free agency before his age-30 season next year.
After reporting to training camp on Monday, the 29-year-old Kamara took to Instagram and posted a photo of him with former Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch on his story.
Some smart internet detectives noted that Alvin Kamara may have been saying, “I’m just here so I don’t get fined”, the infamous line Lynch told reporters at Super Bowl 49 week nine years ago.

Alvin Kamara’s decision to show up at training camp is still a welcoming development for the Saints. If he’s showing up to training camp to avoid fines, then it’s hard to imagine him skipping regular season games which would lead to even larger fines.
Lynch had a rocky relationship with the media during his tenure with the Seahawks. Lynch claims that he racked up over $1 million in fines by the NFL for refusing to speak to the media.
Alvin Kamara May Be Nearing The End Of The Line With Saints
As great as Kamara has been for the Saints over these last seven years, it’s not a stretch to think that he’s on borrowed time in the Big Easy.
Kamara is entering his age-29 season, and most running backs start to decline considerably before their 30th birthdays. And with New Orleans in another tough cap situation, it’ll be hard to justify extending an ageing asset at a devaluing position.
New Orleans also has a former 1,000-yard rusher in Jamaal Williams and 2023 third-round pick Kendre Miller, who are both capable of taking over the backfield if Kamara doesn’t return next year.
