The New York Jets signed former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard to a four-year contract Friday.
He signed this contract knowing that his former teammate would still be his teammate with his new team. Lazard reunites with Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who worked with the receiver in the same role in Green Bay from 2019-21. Lazard could also rejoin quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who said on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he intends to play for New York this year.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Lazard sounded confident that a trade betwen Jets and Packers was going to happen.
“We were both trying to do what was right for the both of us. Obviously, his situation is a little bit different with his career and everything,” Lazard said. “Standing here today, it feels good knowing that 12 is going to be my quarterback again.”
Reports have stated that the Packers want a first-round pick “and more” for Rodgers.
In 2022, Lazard had 60 receptions for 788 yards and six touchdowns. In 2021, he had a career-best eight TD receptions.
