Allen Hurns got a shot to the gut on Tuesday after he was informed of his release by the Dallas Cowboys, some six months after a gruesome injury he sustained in the playoffs against the Seattle Seahawks.
As he made his way out of the organization, the veteran wide receiver delivered one last parting shot as he called out the Cowboys front office for releasing him one day after asking him to take a ridiculous pay cut.
Hurns was set to make $6.25 million and the Cowboys were clearly looking for ways to find money in an effort to possibly make way for contract extensions for Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott.
The 27-year-old will become a free agent once the transaction is final.
He played in all 16 regular-season games with seven starts but totaled just 20 receptions for 295 yards and two scores.
