File this one under one of the greatest NFL referee mic’d up moments you’ll ever see.
In the third quarter of the Detroit Lions-Seattle Seahawks game at Ford Field, officials flagged Geno Smith for intentional grounding. While Smith was arguing the call with head official Alex Kemp, the latter stated, “I’m talking to America here, excuse me.”
Though it appeared to be the wrong call against Smith, the Seahawks wound up scoring a touchdown on the drive anyway. So all’s well that ends well.
The Seahawks are trying to avoid an ugly 0-2 start after falling to the Los Angeles Rams last week. Detroit, meanwhile, is aiming for its first 2-0 start since 2017 after a surprise win in Kansas City last week.
