Whether they like it or not, the Miami Dolphins made a ton of football fans — and surely NFL running backs as well — angry by handing out a lucrative contract extension to fullback Alec Ingold.
Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Dolphins gave Ingold a three-year contract extension worth $17.2 million, making him the AFC’s highest-paid FB now.
Ingold’s extension comes at a time where star NFL running backs are struggling to land long-term deals of their own. Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts requested a trade after he was unable to secure a new deal.Josh Jacobs (Las Vegas Raiders), Saquon Barkley (New York Giants) and Tony Pollard (Dallas Cowboys) also didn’t receive long-term deals after their respective clubs handed them the franchise tag.
So as you could guess, NFL fans weren’t understanding nor happy about Ingold’s big payday.
