Aldon Smith was sentenced to one year in jail Friday after he pleaded no contest to a felony DUI charge, per TMZ Sports.
This sentence stemmed from a December 2021 crash. He was also sentenced to five years of supervised probation on Friday.
Smith was issued a felony DUI charge following a 2021 arrest at a California freeway offramp after he rear-ended another vehicle, which was followed by his attempt to allegedly bribe the other driver to not call the police.
As you can see, that did not work.
According to the Mercury News, court records showed that when police did arrive, they found two empty bottles of hard alcohol in Smith’s vehicle. He would also decline a field sobriety test on the scene but later was tested and registered a blood-alcohol content level of .288 – three times the legal limit.

This past January, Smith pleaded no contest after initially pleading not guilty at his arraignment. As a result of the deal, Judge Kevin Dunleavy said the sentence would be for no more than 16 months in prison.
The 33-year-old entered the NFL as the No. 7 overall pick of the 2011 draft and played for the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, and Dallas Cowboys.
The NFL suspended him three times, and he last appeared in a game during the 2020 season.
