It’s been a long road for Aldon Smith.
The former NFL Pro Bowl defensive end is finally returning to the league after a four-year absence when it was reported he was signing a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday.
Smith, who last played for the Raiders in 2015 after playing four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, would soon take to Instagram and post a heartfelt message while posting a picture of him signing his contract.
The former first-round pick out of Missouri derailed his own career when he served multiple suspensions under both the substance-abuse policy and the Personal Conduct Policy.
His latest suspension arose from an alleged hit-and-run, DUI and vandalism incident in 2015. He would be denied an appeal by the league to be reinstated one year later.
