Thursday Night Football play-by-play Al Michaels was thoroughly confused by a movie reference during last night’s broadcast.
Michaels was on the call for Amazon’s Thursday Night Football broadcast alongside Kirk Herbstreit for an NFC North matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers.
During the game, the broadcast panned to a Lions fan in attendance who was rocking a photoshopped picture of Jared Goff and Dan Campbell in place of Step Brothers actors John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell. It is one of the most recognizable photos in human history at this point.
However, Michaels didn’t appear to connect the photo to the movie at all when discussing it on air.
Michaels said it was Campbell and Goff’s “high school graduation pictures.”
“Everything is a parody, everything is a joke these days,” said Michaels. There is (Dan) Campbell and (Jared) Goff in high school graduation pictures. Or something similar.”

Everyone couldn’t help but notice his mistake.
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff completed 19 of his 28 passing attempts for 210 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Thursday Night Football victory over the Green Bay Packers.
For Jordan Love, the potential for a dream quickly turned into a nightmare. It was a beatdown from the start. Detroit won 34–20 after leading 27–3 at halftime.
Love finished 23-of-36 for 246 yards with two touchdowns (one rushing) and two interceptions. He only had 50 yards passing at halftime.
