NFL fans were calling on Al Michaels to retire following an embarrassing slip-up during Amazon Prime’s broadcast of the TNF fixture between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday night.
The 78-year-old has been calling games for over 50 years, so he went back a couple of decades after halftime, referring to the Eagles Lincoln Financial Field as “Veterans Stadium.”
Veterans Stadium hasn’t been around since 2004, having been demolished. The Eagles played their last game there in 2003. Funny enough, Michaels called Philly’s first game at their current home ground.
Fans reacted to the gaffe by asking him to retire.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have moved to 2-0 after beating the Vikings 34-28.
D’Andre Swift, who joined Philadelphia via a trade from the Detroit Lions, had a career night as he ran the ball 28 times for 175 yards and scored a touchdown.
The Vikings, on the other hand, have dropped to 0-2, falling further down the rankings in the NFC North.
Minnesota, as well as the Chicago Bears, remain winless to start the season while the Lions and the Green Bay Packers have gotten off on positive trends.
As for Michaels, he’s probably not going anywhere soon.
