The coronavirus pandemic has had a substantial impact on Al Michaels and Mike Tirico’s Thanksgiving schedules.
Fans tuning in to the Sunday Night Football game featuring Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears will hear Tirico, not Michaels, on the microphone.
On top of that, former NFL head coach Tony Dungy will also be on the call instead of Cris Collinsworth. Kathryn Tappen, who does sideline reporting for NBC’s Notre Dame coverage, will make her NFL sideline debut.
It was earlier this season that NBC announced Michaels will have some “bye weeks” this year to minimize travel.
Tirico was also scheduled to call Thursday Night’s Steelers-Ravens game with Cris Collinsworth, but it was postponed until Tuesday because of an outbreak of COVID-19. Both are still scheduled to call that game.
