AJ McCarron made the correct decision.
The BattleHawks quarterback revealed earlier this year that he turned down more lucrative offers to sign up in Dwayne Johnson’s revamped football league. It all worked out for him in the end.
He earned Most Valuable Player of the XFL for his performance this season.
The former University of Alabama and Buffalo Bills QB led the league for completion percentage (68.8) and touchdown passes (24). McCarron totaled 2,150 passing yards while his passing touchdowns set a single-season XFL record.
He guided the team to a 7-3 record, despite missing one game.
McCarron reacted to getting named MVP on Twitter.

A former NFL backup, McCarron was taken in the fifth round of the 2014 Draft. He came into the league after breaking a number of school records and was second place in Heisman Trophy voting before declaring for the NFL.
He was picked by the Cincinnati Bengals, who signed him to a four-year, $ 2.4 million contract. He would fail to secure a role, and would only start three games over the next four seasons.
He would also spend time with the Bills, Raiders, Texans, and Falcons over the next few years as he failed to find a permanent home.
He tore his ACL ahead of the 2021 season and missed the entire campaign, failing to find a team for 2022.
Despite not living up to much in the league, McCarron earned $15,614,468, per Spotrac.
Last November, he was drafted by the BattleHawks as the XFL made its big comeback under WWE legend The Rock’s ownership. He’s already made the money, so now he just wants his chance to play and that is what happened.
