The Eagles have a big problem on their hands.
The Philadelphia Eagles plan to release five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay and now another player on the team is not happy about it. The Eagles and Slay could not work out a restructured contract and he will be a free agent today at 4 p.m. ET.
Standout WR AJ Brown took to Twitter and posted a GIF to show off his disappointment.
Slay was entering the final year of his three-year, $50 million deal. He was acquired by the team from the Lions in 2020 in exchange for a third- and a fifth-round pick. He has made the Pro Bowl each of the past two years and had three interceptions and 14 passes defensed this past season.
The Eagles’ defense has now lost Darius Slay, Javon Hargrave, Kyzir White, TJ Edwards, and Marcus Epps, while CJ Gardner-Johnson is still a free agent.
It has been a humbling off-season for a team that is coming off a Super Bowl appearance.
