A well-known sports analyst has put together a fascinating NFL trade idea that has an AFC team trading up into the No. 5 spot to select LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The Chicago Bears will take USC’s Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. With the No. 2 selection, the Washington Commanders are also a sure bet to take a quarterback — most likely one of Daniels, North Carolina’s Drake Maye or Michigan’s JJ McCarthy.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been widely reported as a team that wants Daniels, but they certainly won’t get him in the No. 13 spot. If he wants Daniels, Raiders GM Tom Telesco will have to trade a king’s ransom to move up and get the Heisman Trophy winner.
During a recent episode of FS1’s “First Things First program, Nick Wright shared his updated 2024 first-round NFL mock draft. Wright has the Raiders acquiring the No. 5 pick from the archrival Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for the No. 13 and No. 77 picks plus a 2025 first-round selection.
With the No. 5 pick, Wright projects that the Raiders will select Daniels.

The Raiders currently have sophomore Aidan O’Connell and free agent pickup Gardner Minshew II in their quarterback room. If they still want Daniels, Telesco better submit his best offer to opposing teams as soon as possible.
In his final season of college football, Daniels threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns against only four interceptions to go along with 1,134 rushing yards and 10 rushing scores.
Jayden Daniels Will Likely Be A Top-Three Pick
Williams to Chicago at first overall is a foregone conclusion, but it’s anybody’s guess what exactly Washington is thinking with the No. 2 pick.
Even if Washington passes on Daniels, it’s hard to envision him falling out of the top-three. If the New England Patriots don’t want to take a QB with the No. 3 pick, they’ll likely trade it to a team that is willing to pay a pretty penny.
