Los Angeles Rams superstar wide receiver Cooper Kupp has cemented himself as one of the franchise’s all-time greats, but it’s not a stretch to believe he’s on borrowed time with the NFC West club.
Cooper Kupp is under contract through 2026, his age-33 season. But if GM Les Snead plays his cards right (and he usually does), the Rams will trade Kupp long before the expiration of his contract.
As we’ve seen with the likes of All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, star wide receiver Brandin Cooks and perennial Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner, Snead would rather move on from a star player too early rather than too late.
With the injury-prone Cooper Kupp entering his age-31 season, this summer feels like a good time for Snead to trade the star wideout and maximize his return in a possible trade. Per OvertheCap.com, the Rams would save $20 million in cap space if they traded him down.
The most logical landing spot for the Super Bowl 56 MVP is the Los Angeles Chargers, who have a) an elite quarterback in Justin Herbert b) the cap space and c) the need for receiving help.

New Chargers GM Joe Hortiz and head coach Jim Harbaugh shook up the offense, bidding farewell to star wideouts Keenan Allen and Mike Williams as well as do-it-all running back Mike Williams.
Right now, Herbert’s top receivers are Josh Palmer, rookie Ladd McConkey (a second-round pick), veteran D.J. Chark and 2023 first-rounder Quentin Johnston. The Chargers just need one more proven stud receiver to re-emerge as a playoff team, and Cooper Kupp fits that bill.
What Chargers Should Offer Rams For Cooper Kupp
Kupp may be 31 years of age, but he’s a still a consistent 1,000-yard threat when healthy (737 yards in 12 games last year). The Bolts have guys like Herbert, Rashawn Slater, Derwin James, Khaill Mack and Joey Bosa in their primes, so Hortiz and Harbaugh shouldn’t be afraid to make a win-now move with.
The Chargers should offer the Rams a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round pick for the Super Bowl-winning receiver. With Kupp stepping in as the Bolts’ new WR1, Herbert and company would be set up nicely for a return to the postseason.
