A blockbuster trade proposal has one of the Kansas City Chiefs’ top competitors in the AFC landing New Orleans Saints superstar running back Alvin Kamara.
The Saints are coming off a third straight non-playoff season, missing out on the NFC South division crown via tiebreaker to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also went 9-8. The team has already made one big change, hiring Klint Kubiak to replace Pete Carmichael as the offensive coordinator.
But could the cap-strapped Saints also look to shake up an ageing roster that resembles nothing close to a Super Bowl contender? If they decide the answer is yet, it might make sense to move on from All-Pro running back Alvin Kamara.
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay proposed an intriguing trade idea that has New Orleans trading Kamara to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick:
“Enter Alvin Kamara, the veteran New Orleans Saints running back whose impact has diminished in recent seasons. While the five-time Pro Bowler isn’t the superstar that he was earlier in his career, he can create still big plays as both a rusher and pass-catcher out of the backfield…
New Orleans should be willing to ship Kamara off for little in return, assuming he’s willing to renegotiate his contract to one more commensurate with his projected usage in Baltimore. The Ravens could deploy him as a third-down and change-of-pace back.”
The Saints would surely want more than a seventh-rounder for a guy who has exceeded 1,000 yards of offense in each of his seven seasons. But Kamara will be 29 next season, plays a devaluing position and hasn’t played a full season since his 2017 rookie year.

So if the Saints end up wanting to deal Kamara, they’ll likely have to settle on a mid-to-late-round draft choice. And of course, an annual title contender like the Ravens would be the idea landing spot for the perennial Pro Bowler.
