Keenan Allen will be playing his football in a Chicago Bears uniform next season.
The star wide receiver is set to leave the Los Angeles Chargers after spending all of his 10-year career with the team to date, having been traded to the Bears in a shocking blockbuster move on Friday.
Allen has since revealed that two other teams were looking to trade for him before the move, with The Athletic’s Adam Jahns reporting that the Houston Texans and New York Jets were both keen on acquiring the player.
According to Dianna Russini, also of The Athletic, the Jets only had a conversation with the Chargers and didn’t make any offers. However, the Texans were “close to landing Allen” before the Bears swooped in with a better offer.
This acquisition is a huge one for the Bears. Allen, 31, is still one of the best wideouts in the NFL. He made 108 catches for 1,243 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games last season.

Given his move to Chicago, fans can only wonder what could have been if he were to play alongside Aaron Rodgers or C.J. Stroud. But the Bears are very likely to draft Caleb Williams, which should be just as intriguing, if not more considering the novelty surrounding the former USC quarterback.
Still, it’s not a foregone conclusion, Justin Fields remains on the roster and, while reports are claiming Chicago has already decided to draft Williams, we won’t know what their plans are for sure until we get closer to the draft.
Keenan Allen Joining Another Highly-Rated Wideout In Chicago
In any case, Allen will be playing alongside another highly-rated WR in D.J. Moore in a tandem that will certainly pack a punch.
Moore made 106 catches for 1,364 yards and eight TDs for the Bears last season. Now, he’s poised to team up with another solid WR option in a move that should at least see Chicago return to the playoffs.
