NFL teams looking to bolster their offense ahead of Week 1 may want to call the Seattle Seahawks to inquire about a potential trade for superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf.
There aren’t any indicators that the Seahawks are actively shopping DK Metcalf, but this organization has never been afraid to deal star players for the right price. We saw it with Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson, defensive ends Frank Clark and Michael Bennett and center Max Unger.
After the 2024 NFL Draft, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright of KOA Colorado reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers (Wilson’s new team) “called” the Seahawks about the two-time Pro Bowler. Of course, a deal never materialized.
DK Metcalf has two years remaining on the three-year, $72 million extension he signed in the 2022 offseason. Seattle would get the best possible return by dealing Metcalf now instead of waiting until next offseason, when he’ll be in his contract year.

Pittsburgh went 10-7 last year and qualified for the postseason despite finishing 28th in scoring offense. They traded former 1,000-yard wideout Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers, leaving the offense without another star pass-catcher to complement George Pickens.
But if the Steelers added DK Metcalf to an offense led by Wilson, Pickens, Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren and Pat Freiermuth, Mike Tomlin and company would unquestionably return to Super Bowl contender status.
What Steelers Should Offer Seahawks For DK Metcalf
Receivers in their late 20s like Tyreek Hill, Odell Beckham Jr. and Davante Adams all cost at least a first-round pick in a trade. Metcalf (27 in December ) is a top-10 receiver in the game, and still has plenty of good football left in him
A fair offer would Metcalf would be a 2025 first-round pick. It may seem pricey and all, but the Steelers are one more potent offensive playmaker away from emerging as a Super Bowl contender, and Metcalf could be the final piece needed to get over the top.
