With Jay Gruden out of the picture in Washington, the Redskins are seemingly running a more friendly type of offense. Which means more running and less passing.
“We came into the game thinking rush attempts. We wanted to have more attempts. We weren’t really concerned about the yardage but the attempts was really, really important,” interim coach Bill Callahan told reporters after Sunday’s win over Miami.
That had to be music to Adrian Peterson’s ears.
The Redskins running back finished with a season-high 23 carries on Sunday, but he was in danger of having one of them taken away from him by the quarterback.
In a video posted by The Athletic’s Mark Bullock, it appears Keenum tried to audible out of a run play, but upon looking back at Peterson, he was told to not do that, so Keenum put the play back on.
Redskins got a first down on that play, so it all worked out. They would later win the game and get their first win during the 2019 season.
