Northwestern defensive end Adetomiwa Adebawore turned heads with an incredible 40-yard dash time on Thursday.
Adebawore, who’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, ran a 40-yard dash time of 4.49 seconds. For what it’s worth, Los Angeles Rams superstar Aaron Donald had a 40-yard dash time of 4.68 seconds back in 2014.
In addition to beating Donald, Adebawore’s 4.49 is also faster than the times put up by NFL stars like Nick Bosa, Aiden Hutchinson and even wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins!
Well, that’s one way of boosting your draft stock less than two months before the NFL Draft.
It may be hard to believe now, but Donald wasn’t exactly regarded as a generational prospect back in the deep 2014 NFL Draft class. He was selected 13th overall by the St. Louis (now Los Angeles) Rams, and little did the football world know that he would emerge as the best defensive player of his era.

Might Donald’s career path entice more teams to take Adebawore earlier? We’ll have to wait and see.
Adebawore turned in his best season yet in college in 2022, posting five sacks and two forced fumbles. Adebawore was widely projected to be a third-round draft selection entering the Combine, but his impressive 40-yard dash time might see him move up several teams’ boards.
Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, Crimson Tide outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. and Georgia defensive tackle Jaden Carter are widely regarded as the top four prospects in this year’s draft class. Chances are strong that those will be the top four selections in next month’s draft.
