The Minnesota Vikings are in deep trouble.
It’s never good to be losing games that you should be winning, but it makes it even worse when your star receiver is calling out his quarterback.
Following the Minnesota Vikings’ 16-6 defeat to the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Adam Thielen expressed his frustration with a unit that gained only 222 yards and he seemed to take aim at Kirk Cousins.
“At some point, you’re not going to be able to run the ball for 180 yards, even with the best running back in the NFL,” Thielen said, per The Athletic’s Chad Graff. “That’s when you have to be able to throw the ball. … You have to be able to hit the deep balls.”
Through four games, Cousins has thrown for 735 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, only averaging 7.4 yards per attempt, which is on pace to be the third-lowest of his career.
Head coach Mike Zimmer didn’t seem to have Cousins back either.
