NFL insider Adam Schefter has offered an update on the Derek Car situation following the Las Vegas Raiders’ decision to move on from the quarterback.
Carr is unlikely to be playing for the Raiders next season, but he will be playing somewhere as a number of NFL teams are believed to be keeping a close eye on things.
According to Schefter, all of the teams in the NFC South, as well as the New York Jets, Washington Commanders, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans, are in the market for a new signal-caller. He also noted that the player will be moved “earlier rather than later.”
“The entire NFC South is expected to be in the market for a new quarterback,” Schefter said during NFL Countdown on Saturday. “The Jets, the Commanders, the Colts, the Texans. There are so many teams that need a quarterback, which elevates the value of Derek Carr.”
The Raiders don’t have a whole lot of time to find a trade for Carr, whose base $32.9 million salary for 2023 will become fully guaranteed on February 25, which leaves them with less than a month to find a trade.
