The Aaron Rodgers saga has led to some bad blood and broken relationships, but it’s almost over now as the quarterback has announced his intention to play for the New York Jets.
There was quite a stir on social media after Trey Wingo announced the deal between NY and the Green Bay Packers had been sealed after Dov Kleiman piggybacked on it only for the likes of Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter to announce that there was nothing to the report.
Schefter has seemingly found himself on Rodgers’ bad side after reporting that the quarterback made a list of demands where the Jets are concerned, asking them to sign his Packers teammate Allen Lazard.
The wide receiver is headed to the Jets too, with a deal being ironed out. However, Rodgers denies having asked for the Jets to make any signings and, speaking on The Pat McAfee Show this Wednesday, where he made the announcement, revealed he told the ESPN insider to lose his number.
The quarterback was not lying. Schefter has since shared a screenshot confirming he was rebuked by Rodgers in a text that reads “Lose my number. Good try tho.”
This is quite possibly one of the biggest Ls a high-profile reporter has ever had the misfortune of experiencing, at least the biggest one we know about. Wingo has been partially vindicated as the Packers are yet to actually agree to a trade. But Schefty is taking some heat.

Folks were also surprised to see that Schefter only had four unread messages at the time. Makes the whole thing even sadder.
