Shocking news hit the NFL world today as it was announced that Calvin Ridley was suspended for one full season for betting on games. And since the announcement was made, more shocking news continues to pile in regarding the matter.
The Falcons wide receiver was said to have wagered on NFL games during a five-day period in November 2021, while he was away from the team on the non-football illness list. It has since been revealed by the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo that Ridley did in fact bet on Falcons games.
More details have since come to light regarding the specifics of Ridley’s wagers. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Falcons wideout made “multi-legged parlay bets” which included the Falcons to win.
Schefter also notes that there was no involvement from any of the players or coaches, as no one within the Falcons organization was aware that these bets were being made by Calvin.
The other teams involved in these 3-, 5-, and 8-game parlays has not yet been disclosed. Neither have the amounts wagered, although Ridley did claim on his Twitter account that he had only wagered a total of $1,500.

Ridley will now miss the entire 2022 season, with hopes of returning to the league in 2023 — albeit, perhaps with a different team, as he was the subject of several trade rumors this offseason prior to the announcement of his suspension.
