Adam Schefter has offered a reaction to the passing of legendary football reporter and longtime colleague Chris Mortensen.
ESPN is mourning the loss of the former NFL insider, who passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 72.
While his cause of death is unknown at the time of writing, Mortensen was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in 2016.
“ESPN is very sorry to have to share this devastating news. Award-winning journalist Chris Mortensen passed away this morning at the age of 72,” ESPN PR announced following his death.
Schefter, who worked with Mortensen for many years and shared a friendship with him, took to social media to lament the loss.
“An absolutely devastating day. Mort was one of the greatest reporters in sports history, and an even better man,” he wrote on X. “Sincerest condolences to his family, and all who knew and loved him. So many did. Mort was the very best. He will be forever missed and remembered,” Schefter wrote on social media.
